Ancient Magicks Discovered in Jalsavrah — Archaeologists Baffled
A team of researchers exploring the pyramid of Jalsavrah has uncovered a previously unknown chamber containing scrolls detailing powerful ice magic.
An archaeological expedition to the pyramid of Jalsavrah in the Kharidian Desert has uncovered what researchers are calling "the most significant magical discovery in decades" — a hidden chamber containing scrolls that describe entirely new applications of Ancient Magicks.
The discovery was made by Dr. Hassan's team, who were originally investigating reports of unusual energy readings from within the pyramid.
"We were mapping the lower levels when we found a sealed door that didn't appear on any existing surveys," Dr. Hassan explained. "Behind it was a perfectly preserved chamber containing dozens of scrolls, all written in the ancient Zarosian script."
Ice, Blood, and Shadow
Initial translations suggest the scrolls describe three categories of previously undocumented spells, tentatively classified as Ice, Blood, and Shadow magic.
"The Ice spells appear to be capable of freezing targets in place," said translator Akthanakos, who was hired for his expertise in ancient languages. "The Blood spells seem to drain life force from the target. And the Shadow spells... well, those are still being translated, but the diagrams are quite unsettling."
Implications for Combat
Military strategists in Falador have already begun discussing the potential combat applications of the new spells.
"If these Ice spells work as described, they could revolutionise Wilderness combat," said Sir Amik Varze of the White Knights. "Imagine freezing your opponent in place while you set up your special attack. It would be devastating."
However, others have raised concerns about the ethical implications of Blood magic.
"Draining someone's life force seems a bit much," commented Brother Jered of the monastery. "Can't we just stick to Wind Strike?"
The team expects full translations to be available within the month. Access to the chamber has been restricted pending further study.
